2 Days PMVA Training (Refresher Course)
The 2 Days Refresher Course incorporates the Breakaway and Physical Interventions Techniques.
This course is aimed to refresh candidates following a 12-month practice in respective clinical settings. The course promotes continuity in compliance as well as skills acquired from the 3-4 Days PMVA. The content is designed to follow BILD/RRN and The GSA Training standards.
This course is for those who have completed the initial 3-4 Days PMVA and need to update. It is also for those candidates who have lapsed their 12 monthly refresher course. Health questions are to be completed and it is not permitted to attend this course if you are pregnant before consulting your doctor because of the physical nature of the course.
By the end of the course, delegates will be able to:
Legal Responsibilities, Understand Reasonable Force, Understand ethical considerations of physical intervention, Identify possible causes of violence + aggression, Know the stages of the assault cycle + what each stage means, Be able to identify signs of escalation of aggression, Understand the different types of de-escalation strategies, Recognise the importance of early intervention, Understand the importance of continually assessing + evaluating the levels of risk posed by difficult/challenging people, Select + utilise appropriate physical + non-physical strategies to manage aggressive individuals, Understand Trauma Informed Care, Understand PBS, Understand Safewards.

Health & Safety Requirements
Completion of Fitness Questionnaire. This will aid the tutor to identify and possibly rectify the teaching process for each individual candidate. It is advisable to be honest about any conditions as MHC-TRAINING will not be liable for any issues that the tutors are unaware of. Wear suitable clothing, preferably tracksuit bottoms and a loose top. Trainers are to be worn and no hard-soled shoes as mats will be used. Knee pads are available for candidates that require them. Excessive jewellery is to be avoided for your and others’ safety. Hair must be tied back and nails cut short.
